Going the Distance

Published on 09/22/10

The marathon is completed one step at a time. Although the steps are up to you, it’s nice knowing that others surround you. The runners ahead do the pulling; the runners behind do the pushing. This perspective changes the way we view others. The marathon is not a race of competition per se, but of striving toward the mark—the finish line!

In many ways, this journey of life is a marathon. Some pull ahead and cheer for you to succeed. Some are up and coming and really apply the pressure for you to stay the course. The motivation and encouragement drawn from both sides of the field are essential.

This website marks just another step in my journey and should not go without acknowledging those who surround me. Lori, you complete me more every day. Children, you challenge me, yet bring so much joy to life. I love how you tickle my heart. Dad and Mom, thank you for showing me how to dream and achieve with the mindset to work. To my wonderful family and friends, running with you is a delight.

Above all, there is One who has run a course I could never run. He even set the course. Today, He offers abundant life and He longs for us to know Him. His name is Jesus and He is everything!

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

—Hebrews 12:1–2
